Goodwood Kartways, operating since 1957, is the Toronto area's premier outdoor karting facility, located near Goodwood in Uxbridge Township. The facility offers public arrive-and-drive karting in youth, teen and adult race leagues from April to October, with everything provided: karts, training, safety equipment, licensing and mechanics. Race events are scheduled bi-weekly and the track is open six days a week. Programs also include a kid kart training program for ages 4 to 7, club racing for private kart owners, the KartStars Canada regional travel league, private and corporate events, and Canada's largest on-site karting store. Racing fees start at $85 plus HST per event.

Guided kayak rental experiences launching from Port Whitby Marina, paddling Whitby Harbour in transparent clear kayaks, including signature glow-in-the-dark sunset sessions. Around 15,000 Durham students a year visit on school field trips - over 200,000 children since it opened - learning road, cycling and fire safety from Regional Police officers, local firefighters and paramedics. The public is welcome at family events including the Halloween Haunt, Christmas in the Village, the Easter Eggstravaganza and the Summer Drop-In program. It is a volunteer-board-run registered non-profit charity (board includes DRPS and the Rotary Club of Oshawa Parkwood) on a site donated by the Durham District School Board - not town-run.
The Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site is the Ontario home where author Lucy Maud Montgomery lived from 1911 to 1926, raising her family and writing eleven of her twenty-two novels. Operated by the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario, a volunteer not-for-profit, the restored manse museum opens to the public for guided tours, alongside the Historic Leaskdale Church where her husband Ewan Macdonald served as minister. The site features a historic video introduction, the only full-size bronze statue of the author in a scenic garden, luncheon teas, a gift shop, and seasonal concerts and events. The site is open daily June 1 to August 31, 10am to 4pm; in other months it opens weekends only, 10am to 4pm, with off-season tours by appointment. Tours are $10 per adult, children under 12 free; tea, scones and tour $20 per person; light lunch and tour $25 per person for groups of ten or more, booked in advance.
A Georgian-era home built by settler Jabez Lynde, run as a living-history museum by the Whitby Historical Society - the oldest house in Durham Region. Visitors take guided interpretive tours (self-guided visits are not available) and can browse the Warren General Store gift shop and Clarissa Lynde's Heritage Kitchen Garden behind the house. Regular admission is by donation ($5 suggested minimum). Seasonal programming includes afternoon teas in the dining room, Victorian Christmas daytime tours and candlelight evening tours with carollers (ticketed, pre-registration required). Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:30am-4:00pm; Saturday 11:30am-4:00pm; closed Wednesday and Sunday.
