About This Business
The Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site is the Ontario home where author Lucy Maud Montgomery lived from 1911 to 1926, raising her family and writing eleven of her twenty-two novels. Operated by the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario, a volunteer not-for-profit, the restored manse museum opens to the public for guided tours, alongside the Historic Leaskdale Church where her husband Ewan Macdonald served as minister. The site features a historic video introduction, the only full-size bronze statue of the author in a scenic garden, luncheon teas, a gift shop, and seasonal concerts and events. The site is open daily June 1 to August 31, 10am to 4pm; in other months it opens weekends only, 10am to 4pm, with off-season tours by appointment. Tours are $10 per adult, children under 12 free; tea, scones and tour $20 per person; light lunch and tour $25 per person for groups of ten or more, booked in advance.
