The Town of Whitby's municipal recreation program for adults aged 55 and older, based at the 55+ Recreation Centre at 801 Brock Street South. In 2026 the centre celebrates 50 years — it opened in February 1976 as the Whitby Seniors Activity Centre and has grown to 16,000 square feet of programming space serving nearly 3,000 members. Members enjoy drop-in programs like bingo, cards, darts and scrabble, courses in fitness, creative arts, dance, computers and general interest topics, wellness and lifestyle programs, sports leagues, special events, the Mingles on-site cafe, a lounge with computers and a lending library, and volunteer opportunities.
