About This Business

Valleys 2000 (Bowmanville Valleys 2000 Inc.) is a local non-profit group dedicated to protecting, developing and promoting green space and hiking trails in Bowmanville. It works exclusively with the Municipality of Clarington to develop, enhance, promote and preserve trails, river bank improvements, informational signage, fish and wildlife habitat, and special natural areas along the Bowmanville and Soper Creek river valleys, abiding by standards set by DFO, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, CLOCA and the Municipality. Its long-term 'Resilient Circle of Green' vision would join the Bowmanville and Soper Creek trail systems into a connected loop of greenspace around Bowmanville. Projects include digital wayfinding stations, the former Bowmanville Zoo lands park vision, annual valley clean-ups, and a commemorative forest program. 100 Men of Scugog

100 Men of Scugog is a charitable giving circle of local men supporting Scugog-area charities. Members gather for one-hour meetings at the Port Perry Legion, where three local charities each give a five-minute presentation and answer questions; members then vote and each writes a $100 cheque directly to the winning charity. Every dollar goes straight to local charity — there are no committees, no bank account and no fees. Founded in January 2015, the group celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2025 and has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for Scugog-area charities to date, including creating a bursary for Durham College students. New members are welcome at quarterly meetings.

Cadets build leadership, citizenship and self-confidence through drill, marksmanship, music, fitness and community service, and the corps is active at Scugog community events including Remembrance Day ceremonies and parades. The corps parades on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the training year and new cadets can join through the online application on its website. Co-sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419.
