About This Business
The Uxbridge Senior Citizens' Club is a long-running non-profit seniors club based at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, 75 Marietta Street, and a member of the Older Adult Centres' Association of Ontario. Its roots go back to the early 1960s, when seniors met in each other's homes and on bus trips; the club officially opened in the Music Hall on October 24, 1965 and moved into the present Seniors Centre at 75 Marietta Street in 1993, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013. The club's goal is to promote wellness, health, fitness, safety and education for its members and to advance awareness of seniors in the community. It offers card games, lunches, shuffleboard, line dancing, and exercises for body and mind, plus general meeting luncheons on the third Tuesday of each month at noon from October to June, sometimes with entertainment or speakers. Membership costs $15 per year for seniors 55 and over, with individual activities charging two to five dollars. The club is distinct from the Township-run Ux55+ Active Living Centre, which offers drop-in help at the same building.
