About This Business
The Uxbridge Quaker Meeting House is the oldest building in Uxbridge Township: the Friends' Meeting House of Quaker Hill was the first place of worship built in the township in 1809, and the present board-and-batten meeting house was raised in 1820 by a group of Quakers headed by Ezekiel James. Regular services and Sunday School were carried on there until the 1920s; since then the meeting house has held an Annual Remembrance Service on the second Sunday in June at 2:30 p.m., open to everyone, with contributions gratefully accepted. The hand-hewn timber and pine pews are in good repair, a monument to the devotion of Uxbridge Township's early settlers. General information is available at 905-862-8275 or from Chair Rob Croxall at rob@uxbridgequakermeetinghouse.com. The cover image is an AI-generated, text-free watercolor illustration of a historic wooden meeting house; it is not a photo of the real building. Note: the meeting house's official website (uxbridgequakermeetinghouse.com) is HTTP-only, so the HTTPS-required website field is left null.
