About This Business

The Firehouse Youth Centre is a free after-school drop-in space for youth aged 12 to 19 in Bowmanville, run by the John Howard Society of Durham Region as one of three Clarington Youth Centres locations (alongside The Loft in Courtice and NYC in Newcastle). Youth enjoy a relaxed space with a pool table, basketball area, lounge seating and creative wall art, supported by staff through events and activities all year. Programming is built on five pillars — social and leisure, sports and recreation, life skills, creative arts, and volunteer and civic engagement — with the voice of youth at the centre of everything. The centre also hosts the annual Firehouse Fright Night, a haunted corn-maze fundraiser at Watson Farms in Bowmanville that draws more than 100 volunteers each October. Open Tuesday to Friday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
