About This Business

St. Joseph Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Peterborough, serving Bowmanville from 127 Liberty Street South. The parish celebrates the seven sacraments — baptism, Eucharist, confirmation, reconciliation, anointing of the sick, marriage and holy orders — and supports parishioners with sacramental record requests for weddings, godparents, sponsors and school enrolment. Its St. Vincent de Paul food pantry serves neighbours in need every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. (help line 905-623-6371), working alongside the St. Vincent de Paul Value Store in Bowmanville. In an emergency where death is imminent, the parish asks callers to phone the parish office directly at 905-623-3233 for a priest.

100 Men of Scugog

100 Men of Scugog is a charitable giving circle of local men supporting Scugog-area charities. Members gather for one-hour meetings at the Port Perry Legion, where three local charities each give a five-minute presentation and answer questions; members then vote and each writes a $100 cheque directly to the winning charity. Every dollar goes straight to local charity — there are no committees, no bank account and no fees. Founded in January 2015, the group celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2025 and has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars for Scugog-area charities to date, including creating a bursary for Durham College students. New members are welcome at quarterly meetings.

Cadets build leadership, citizenship and self-confidence through drill, marksmanship, music, fitness and community service, and the corps is active at Scugog community events including Remembrance Day ceremonies and parades. The corps parades on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the training year and new cadets can join through the online application on its website. Co-sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419.
