About This Business

The Newcastle Village and District Historical Society is a registered charity formed in 1981 to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the former Village of Newcastle and its surroundings. Based in the former public library space inside the Newcastle Community Hall, it maintains an extensive collection of artifacts, documents and photographs, runs permanent and special displays in its Historical Room that are open to the public, and offers help researching local history, businesses and families. The Historical Room is open Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9:30am to noon. The society also hosts public talks, heritage events and publishes local history materials.
