About This Business
The Newcastle Gardening Club (formerly the Newcastle Horticultural Society) is a volunteer gardening community in Newcastle, Ontario. The group began in 1914 as the Newcastle Horticultural Society, a member of the Ontario Horticultural Association (now Garden Ontario), and adopted its current name in 2024. The club builds a diverse community of volunteers with interests including home gardening, vegetable farming, container and houseplant growing, therapy gardens, and protecting the natural environment. Everyone is welcome — come to learn, laugh, and volunteer. The club partners with Clarington Library, Museums & Archives on gardening workshops and seed & plant exchanges at the Newcastle branch. Its emblem is the Smooth Wild Rose (Rosa blanda). Contact is via the club website.
