About This Business

An ecologically rich 272-hectare wetland sanctuary on Lake Ontario's north shore, managed by the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority since 1972. Boardwalks, four marsh-viewing platforms and roughly 5 km of looping trails, including the family-friendly Chickadee Trail, wind through forest, meadow and marsh, with the neighbouring Cranberry West Tract adding 40 more hectares. Both Lynde Creek Marsh and Cranberry Marsh are provincially significant wetlands and a long-term coastal monitoring site. Songbirds land on visitors' hands, and the area is a celebrated stopover for migrating waterfowl. Amenities include accessible washrooms, bicycle repair stations, an accessible stretch of the Waterfront Trail and a seasonal canoe/kayak launch open July 15 to September 15. Leashed dogs are permitted only on the paved Waterfront Trail. Pay-and-display parking is $7 a day at 623 Halls Road; the 1225 Victoria Street lot is reserved for annual parking pass holders.
