About This Business
The Lions Club of Bowmanville is a community service club chartered in 1935 — the first regular meeting was held on May 7, 1935, in the Bowman House, sponsored by the Port Hope Lions Club and the Toronto Central Lions Club. The club purchased the Sons of England Hall in 1945, which became the Lions Community Centre; the building was later sold to the Municipality of Clarington and is now known as the Clarington Beech Centre, where the club still holds its regular meetings and functions. Over the years the club has made donations to those in need and worthy projects in the community, the district, and through Lions International; Lions are known worldwide for their work with the blind. Club committees include vision screening, youth activities, effective speaking and peace poster, special events/BBQ, and public relations. Note: the club publishes no public office address, phone, or email; meetings are held at the Clarington Beech Centre in Bowmanville and contact is handled through the club website and Facebook.
