About This Business
The Kent Farndale Gallery is a public art gallery inside the Scugog Memorial Public Library at 231 Water Street in downtown Port Perry, operated by the library. Opened in May 1982 and named for its founding volunteer curator, the gallery presents rotating exhibitions of emerging and established artists and craftspeople working in many media. Each show runs about four weeks, with an opening reception usually held on the first day of the exhibition. The 2026 season includes solo and group shows by Ontario artists, the annual Port Perry High School art show, and shows organized with groups such as the Ontario Society of Artists and the Port Perry Photographic Society. The gallery also established the Kent Farndale Art Bursary, awarded annually to a Scugog resident pursuing a specific field of study in the arts. The gallery is open during the library's regular hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm; Tuesday and Thursday 10:00am to 9:00pm; Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm; Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm. It draws more than 26,000 visitors a year.
