About This Business
The Downtown Whitby Business Improvement Area (BIA) is a specially designated downtown zone in Whitby whose member businesses contribute through a mandatory municipal tax. Run by a full-time staff member, a voluntary Board of Management and two voluntary committees, the BIA represents more than 300 downtown businesses and works to make downtown Whitby a destination of choice through events, beautification, business support and advocacy, under the mandate "Feet on the street, and dollars in the door." Its activities include seasonal beautification, downtown cleanups, pop-up patios, holiday lighting, and promotions such as the Shop Local and Win campaign.
