About This Business
Ajax Chess Club is a rendezvous for chess players of all ages and skill levels, meeting every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9:00 PM in the Ajax High School cafeteria at 105 Bayly Street East. The club has grown to more than 100 members, from ages 8 to 80, drawing players from across Durham Region and beyond. Members enjoy casual play as well as structured mini-tournaments divided into four divisions by skill level, with experienced players coaching newcomers, dedicated volunteer-run tournaments, occasional Saturday tournaments, and online tournaments. The club has hosted keynote events including a lecture, simul, and blitz session with Woman Grandmaster Anna Burtasova.
