Charities
Hearth Place is a charitable support centre at 86 Colborne Street West, Oshawa, for cancer patients and their families. The drop-in centre offers peer support, an information and resource centre, wellness programmes and an ongoing lecture and discussion series, plus programmes for children, teens, caregivers and the bereaved, and a paediatric cancer family support programme. Services are free and accessed by self-referral; the office is open Monday to Thursday 9am–5pm and Fridays 9am–1pm, with evening programmes as scheduled, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible with a ramp. The centre marks its founding philosophy of shared experience: patients and families coming together to share experiences, find resources and discover new ways to care for themselves and each other.
